A reader of this blog posted a comment that said there are not more black men in jail that in college. This is very good to hear. It is good to see that our men are picking up the mantle and moving forward, however, we still have a long way to go. Many of the women in the communities that I work with (mostly inner city) are the wives, mothers, sisters, and girlfriends of African American men who are incarcerated. These men and their children need to find a place of hope and refuge if our community is ever to move forward. While I thank the responder to the previous entry, it is still important to note that we do have a challenge ahead of us if we are ever to progress as a people.
