I asked God for patience. Boy did He answer me. It seemed that on every turn there was another problem for me to deal with. One instance involved a person who was particularly grievous to my heart. Actually this person vexed my spirit. It was all I could do to muster up the strength to even talk to this person in a civil manner. Everyday I found myself crying out to the Lord. GOd I so want to help but they're not receptive. How can I fight this battle? Why won't they listen? Why are they fighting me on every turn? Why won't they hear? Then it hit me. Didn't you ask for patience?
Fast forward about two weeks and I can now see progress in this person. It has become more tolerable to deal with the issues and the rapport is much more favorable. I thought God had put me in the middle of hell but what He was trying to do was teach me what I asked for - patience.
It's easy to get burdened down with the cares of life and feel sorry for yourself. It doesn't take much to question "why me?" Truthfully however, it's important to be reminded that God is always working in our lives. He never leaves us or forsakes us. His providential hand is always upon us. Even in the middle of our mess He's right there working through all the stuff to make sure that we are victorious in the end.In our test there is always a testimony so that God is always doing something for us and ultimately He gets the glory.
I thank God for helping me to wrk on my patience. It's more than a notion but I now understand that as a child of God seeking to become more like Jesus, it takes much prayer and ,uch fortitude to deal with the least the last and the lost. Thank you God for this lesson.

An Interview with Ellen Chaksil, author of
With God there is Hope: Hope for Humanity
1. For you and many others, prayer is a real force in the world that can affect the outcome of situations. How does prayer work?
Yes, prayer is a real force. This communication with God has resulted in healings and answers in many diverse situations. Yet, response to prayer remains a mystery, all having to do with God's will. Numerous times, we pray and experience positive responses to that prayer. Then again, we pray and pray, with no positive response, therein lies the mystery, also the necessity to trust in God's love for us, He alone knows what is best for us.
2. You’re a member of the Charismatic Renewal movement. What is it?
The Charismatic Renewal is a movement concerned with the awakening of the
Spirit of God we received at baptism. Participants are led to recognize the Holy Spirit's presence within us and then cooperate and participate with Him as He works in our lives. Via the renewal, the gifts presented by God at Pentecost are recognized, accepted and so used in today's world.
3. Your spiritual journey has taken you to a point where God speaks to you.
Do you think there is a special reason why you were chosen as a messenger of God?
I have no knowledge as to why God has chosen me to be His messenger in today's world. I do know however, that He has no favorites, this grace is for any of His Children, they have only to love Him, open themselves to Him, and so desire to do His will, following in the way He has shown.
4. How have your family and friends reacted to your communications with
God? Has there been anyone close to you who has doubted your special
relationship with God?
It is now 30 years that I have entered into this close personal relationship with the Lord and to my knowledge, my family, especially my husband of 58 years has not doubted my relationship with God. My husband accompanies me in all my involvements with the Church, he, as well as my children and grandchildren have been open to have me pray with them, we have also discussed happenings which have occurred in my journey with the Lord.
5. What message has God entrusted you to share with the rest of the world?
The primary message God has entrusted to me is one of hope for the physical
salvation of the whole of humanity. When, as has happened in the past, an
asteroid or another body in space threatens collision with Planet Earth, the combined prayer of all God's Children will result in the emanation of an energy which will prevent this from happening. Why? We, each of us, is made in the image and likeness of God and so continued existence is necessary to fulfill God's plan.
6. You believe that all religions share a path towards God. At the core of your
message is the belief that we all need to come together in prayer in order to prevent a world catastrophe. Do you think this is a realistic goal in today’s society?
I do believe that the above plan is realistic. Why? As we all know the greatest instinct within the human person is to live and so there can be no doubt that we would participate in prayer and petition our One True God and Creator to attain that end. Taking one look at the world today and even in the past, perhaps the threat of collision will be the only way humanity will unite.
7. Did you ever feel fear when you realized that God was speaking to you and entrusting you with his mission?
My fear from time to time, even now, was and is that I would die before getting this message out to the whole of humanity. I believe so in the hereafter that I feared facing God with my mission unfinished. Yet I am content in the knowledge that God knows that I have done and am doing everything within my power to accomplish this task assigned to me by God's Holy Spirit.
8. You write that you have been blessed with the ability to speak in tongues? What exactly does that mean and how does it work?
Speaking in tongues is a charism, a gift dispensed by the Holy Spirit. This gift was experienced by the early Christians at Pentecost more than 2000 years ago. When you ask, "how does tongues work?" Here too we are presented with the mystery of God and so I can answer only by offering my experience of tongues: In 1978 when hands had been laid upon me for the awakening of God's Holy Spirit within me, I was totally focusing upon the love I had for Jesus Christ. Then without any expectation or engagement of my own will, I heard myself utter some words I did not understand. Tongues are definitely an asset while praying; one is able to focus upon God without words interfering or being an obstacle, the tongue
is able to move as the Spirit directs while the mind is united with God.
9. You’ve had the good fortune of being received by two popes. How did it feel to meet the popes and share your special gift with them? How did theyrespond?
Yes, I have met both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. I had been
writing to Pope John Paul since 1978. In 1988, God opened a door and I was able to meet him. In 1992 I was able to speak personally with him. Finally in 1996 I received a blessing and was assured he was aware of what I had been writing to him. As for Pope Benedict, my meeting with him was at an audience in the Vatican, during that short time I was able to exchange greetings with him and came away with the impression that he is a shy, caring and gentle human being. Presently, I am awaiting a response to a letter I had written to him a month or so ago. A copy of my book was also placed on a table provided for that purpose at an audience.
10. How has your understanding of being and living as a Catholic changed since the Vatican II reforms?
Since Vatican II, my understanding and being as a Catholic has not changed, for the Church has always called us to holiness, living according to God's Commandments. Reforms in the Liturgy have, however, benefited me greatly. To name a few: Hearing God's Word in my own language. Participating in the Mass. Feeding myself with the Lord's Body and Blood. Exchanging a sign of peace with my Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Understanding other religions, etc.
11. Are you concerned that Pope Benedict’s approval of conservative reforms in the Church will alienate people who want a more personal experience with Jesus and God from the Church? How did you respond to Pope Benedict’s recent visit?
I am not concerned that conservative reforms, such as allowing the celebration of the Latin Mass will alienate people. Those who desire this traditional way of worship have a right to participate in the same. I am pleased however, that we have the choice to attend the Mass we choose.
12. What is the role of women in today’s Church? Do you think women should
play a more prominent role in the Church?
Following Vatican II, the role of women in the Church has been greatly expanded. Their assistance as Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Lectors, AltarServers, etc., is accepted and deeply appreciated in today's Church. I believe Pope John XXIII was a prophet, he foresaw the shortage of priests and so all these lay people have filled a tremendous need. As for the future, when another need arises, God's response will become evident in the fulfillment of that need and if it should be an even greater role for women, then so be it.
13. Religion is obviously one of the most important aspects of your life. How has it sustained you in both the joyous and most difficult times in your life?
Without God, I know I could not have come through the many situations of pain and sorrow which I have experienced. He has always been there for me, I needed only to focus upon the words of St. Paul in Romans 8:28, which I shall paraphrase: Because I know God loves me and I love Him, this situation will, most assuredly, work together for good.

Living far below God's standard
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." (see Matthew 6:10)
Sounding too good to be true, many believers are convinced that expecting good from this life is unrealistic. Many even believe the only real blessings are manifested after we die and go to heaven. The idea of God's will being done here on earth as it is in heaven is completely foreign to them. But wasn't it Jesus Himself that told us about the manifestation of the Kingdom here on earth. If we can trust Him with our eternal salvation, then it's a no-brainer to believe all He said is true.
Many Christians today are living so far below God's standard here on earth because they have accepted human reasoning and experience over what the Word of God has to say.
God's Word is clear that He desires to give us good things, give us great joy by answering our prayers, and fulfill the desires of our heart. What good earthly father would give his child a snake when he asks for a puppy? Our Father in heaven wants us to know that He is much greater than any earthly Father, and how much more does He desire to give us good things when we ask:
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:9-11
God's plans for us are plans of good and not evil to give us a future and a hope. God desires for us to have an abundant life.
So how then do we know that the kingdom of God is available to us right here on earth?
Mark 1:15 says, "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand [or available to you right now]: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
Luke 17:21 says, "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Scripture tells us to seek first the kingdom of God, then these things will be added unto us, for it is God's good pleasure to give us the things of the kingdom. (Luke 12:31-32)
We will bear witness to the kingdom of God being manifested here on earth because where God reigns and His will is done, there is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit!
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17
We today are called to go forth and preach the kingdom of God. That's God's will.
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:7-8
God's kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven is one full of blessings and not curses, but we must choose to be blessed.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. Deuteronomy 30:19
We must stand on the promises of God. We must be willing and obedient to His commands and we must seek the Kingdom diligently. We can't give in to the enemy and what he tells us about our lives. The promises of God far outweigh the attempts of the enemy to tear us down.
God's Kingdom here on earth will be done if we seek Him first.

Reggie is currently active as a noted speaker, conducting speaking engagements throughout the country. For speaking engagements contact warforyoursoul.com or reggie.bullock@comcast.net
This video was created to inspire young at-risk African-Americans not to fall prey to some of the problems they face in society. The "Master of Darkness" represents that abstract concept of evil that has the potential to reside in the consciousness of mankind.
This video should not to be used to divide people (Black & White).
This video should not be used to criticize all aspects of hip-hop culture.
This video should not be used to allow the rest of society to escape from their responsibility, to help with financial & academic support.
If used properly, this video will allow our youth to see some of the horrific conditions that their ancestors fought through and some of the horrific conditions they face today.
An extensive commentary about the film can be seen at warforyoursoul.com

Pay Attention
Hebrews 2
1 So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. 2 For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. 3 So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? 4 And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.
As believers we must be careful to pay attention to the truth we've heard so we won't drift away into false teachings. This involves focusing our minds, bodies, and spirits on the Word of God. This focus means not only hearing but obeying. We must listen carefully and be ready to carry out God's instructions for our lives.

Thankful is as thankful does
2 Corinthians 9:11-13 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.
During this time of year we all find ourselves reflecting on the things in our lives for which we are thankful; life, health, strength, family. Yet in my mind being thankful is something that should be reflected outwardly as well as inwardly.
Each of us has been blessed to be a blessing. So, it's important for us to display our thankfulness by generously giving of ourselves to others. Our actions as well as our words should tell God how thankful we are. Afterall, one of His greatest commandments is that "we love our neighbors as ourselves."
How do we love our neighbor? By finding ways to give generously to them as God has given to you so that He may be glorified. This thanksgiving don't just give lip service to your thankfulness add some action as well.
Eternal Father we give thanks to you for you are good and your mercy endures forever. As we observe Thanksgiving, we thank you for establishing your will on earth as it is in heaven. Thank you for enriching us in every way so we can always be generous.
Father it is your will for us to give thanks to you always and in all things. As we observe Thanksgiving help us to look daily for ways to show you our appreciation for the favor you have shown us. Remind us we are blessed to be a blessing and help us find ways to bless others so that they will in turn thank You. Help us to meet the needs of others so they will joyfully express their thanks to You and as a result of our ministry they will glorify You.
Forgive us for always wanting more and not counting our blessings. Remind us of those we need to forgive.
Thank you that your lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
Blessings and honor and glory be unto forever, Amen.

Will the Church Be the Church!
"People put on the horse and ride it so high, they make you feel like you can't get over there," Harvey said of Christian folks in the Church who parade around with their facade each Sunday morning. "That's what I wish was different."
This was such a jolting commentary on the state of the church today. I felt compelled to post it here. Steve Harvey is very honest about the mistakes he's made in his lifetime, but he is also put off by the "holier than thou" judgmental attitudes of some Christians.
It is a sad sad day when people feel they can't go to the church to seek help because the "church folk" look down on them. And we all know it to be true. When the young lady steps through the door in a dress that probably would be more appropriate for the club, the typical response from most "church folk" is to turn their noses up and begin whispering amongst themselves about the inappropriateness of her attire. Rarely, if ever, do you see someone approaching her with open arms bringing her into the fold making her feel comfortable enough to even receive a word from God that would help to lovingly steer her into the right direction.
A few years ago there was a big push for What would Jesus Do. As the church we need to do what Jesus would do. Afterall, He was not hung on the cross for following the status quo. He was the savior for the least, the last, and the lost. As a matter ofr fact, He was very critical of the "holy rollers of His day,Saducees and Pharisees, who knew the law but rejected the law giver.
Jesus was all about relationships- His with us and ours with one another. He sought out the least of us and brought us into His loving presence. As believers we need to look deep into our hearts and search our motives. It's not about the clothes we wear, the cars we drive, or the amount of money we can place in the basket. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket because "believers" are afraid to go into the highways and biways and tell the people what thus saith the Lord. We need to get off our holy roller pedestals and seek to complete the great commission of making disciples whenever and where ever we can. The Steve Harveys of the world should not feel as though the church is the last place they can go to be healed, delivered, and set free. Stop looking at the clothes they wear, the way they talk, and the things they do and look into their hurting hearts and show them the love of Jesus. What would Jesus do. God bless

Plans for a Future
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
It feels so good to be encouraged by someone you look up to, someone who roots you on, someone who believes you can complete the task before you. Well God is in your corner doing just that, rooting for you. He knows the future and His plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as He provides the agenda and is with us as we fulfill His mission, we an have hope that knows no bounds. This doesn't mean that we will never be touched by pain, sickness, poor relationships, job loss, divorce, domestic violence, cancer, or other trials, but it does mean we can rest assured God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.
Feel free to post comments of instances God has brought you through your trials.

October Observances
October marks the observances of two significant events; National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each of these observances are near and dear to my heart because I have experienced them in a very personal way.
In 1979 I lost a cousin to breast cancer. This was during a time when awarness was really not a big deal. Breast cancer was just beginning to be examined as a problem and technology was far behind with regards to health care for women.
Domestic violence on the other hand is a much more personal issue. I understand all too well the intricacies associated with abuse victims and their home life.
In the next few weeks I will be posting information related to each of these topics. Please join me by posting comments and information. Together, let's work to erradicate each of these issues. God bless

Where Was God?
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Isaiah 53:4
Is God absent when we go through trials in our lives? Hurrican Katrina, Hurricane Ike, the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, each of these is a tragedy in and of itself, but is God really there? YES HE IS! He's in the individuals who come to support you. He's in the countless number of prayers that are sent up on your behalf. He's with those who show compassion and assist financially. God never leaves you alone. (Hebrews 13:5)
We may not have the right answers to the how's and the why's of certain tragedies that befall us, but as believers we should always rest assured God is present with us. Even when we become perplexed as to why He has allowed our lives to take a tragic turn, we can trust God to be near us working out everything for our good.

Even when we become perplexed as to why He has allowed our lives to take a tragic turn, we can trust God to be near us working out everything for our good.

The Power of the Name of Jesus
What's in a name? A whole lot when it's the name of God. Your reputation, your character, and your authority are all represented by your name. When God's name is misused we defame His reputation, His character, and His authority.
Titus 1:16 Such people claim they know God, but they deny Him by the way they live. They are despicable and disobedient, worthless for anything good.
God's name was not meant as a tool to impress. Religious cliche's are just that words. Our lifestyle can either lift up the Lord's name or drag it through the gutter. Our walk needs to match our talk. Let your life, not your words, be your witness before man.
Isaiah 29:13 And so the Lord says, "These people say they are mine. They worship me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. And their worship of me amounts to nothing more than human laws learned by rote.
Each Sunday as I sit in church services I hear parishoners recite the Lord's prayer. It's a methodical almost mechanical recitation of words that seem to have no real meaning to those speaking them. What may be surprising to many is that you take the Lord's name in vain when you just recite words in His name by just going through the motions. Instead this should be an act of worship in which we pray these words lovingly and carefully. Praying to Him when your mind is a thousand miles away is impulsive and has no meaning. Take the time to talk to God in a way that expresses true worship.
Intimidation. That's a word that you would think has nothing to do with God's name, but everytime you claim God has given you direction for something of your own making, that's exactly how you're using His name. To intimidate. "I've prayed about this and God wants me/us to..." Sound familiar. Many people use these words when they want others to cooperate with a plan. But is it their plan or God's plan. Be careful and make sure that God is the leader because when you claim God's approval on something that is clearly not His will, you are breaking the third commandment.
We should use God's name reverently. We must treat His name with the utmost respect being careful at all times not to misuse it because He will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name. Exodus 20:7.

Riding on Empty: A Minister's Guide to a Full Tank
Disappointments in ministry are inevitable. Slow growth, limited resources, and lack of support can all leave you emotionally drained. Overbuilt expectations undergirded by our compelling vision for the future soon collide with reality. Barriers, setbacks, defects, all of these cause expectations to come crashing down. Desperate for encouragement you find yourself caught up with unsafe people who at first seem willing and eager to use their giftedness for the betterment of the ministry. Then out of nowhere this gift from God turns into a nightmare from Elm Street. The pain of someone once known as a friend rebelling against you leaves you emotionally wrecked. But in ministry you can expect encounters with unsafe people.
So, how do you deal with these inevitable realities?
By developing a style of life that covers you emotionally.
First of all, pray like David prayed. No one else in Scripture emptied their heart out more ferverently or candidly than David. He spent real time with God. Pour out your heart to Him and allow Him to pour into you.
Secondly, clear time for yourself. A regular day off each week can work wonders for the mind, body, and soul. Find things to do that replenish you emotionally. It may be reading, fishing, or needlepoint; whatever makes you happy. The trick is to truly be off, no phone, no e-mail, no work, period.
Thirdly, take a lesson from Timothy, study. Ministry finds us continually pouring out instruction and guidance to the masses with no real avenue for replenishing ourselves. An annual sabbatical for the purpose of study can renew both spiritually and emotionally. Be intentional about carving out time about four to six weeks a year, to obtain information that can fortify you in ministry. During this tine you can develop strategies for discipleship and church growth, lessons for teaching, and participate in leadership training.
Lastly, set boundaries for yourself. Why, because it’s not uncommon for those around us to believe we should be able to perform in capacities not necessarily aligned with God’s call for our lives. If we aren’t careful, we can begin to believe our own press. When this happens we begin to experience the proverbial “too many irons in the fire” effect and find ourselves drained.
Enduring in ministry requires personal responsibility and a plan of action for the stressors that present themselves.
Employing the steps outlined here can help you to steer clear from the moral failures experienced by many ministers. Careful thought will allow you to stand during the inevitable crises that will occur and allow you to continue God’s assignment for years after they are over.

Are you a single parent? How are you coping in this economy?

Clearly this economy has plagued our country and victimized millions, but single parent households may be disproportionastely affected. Single parents struggle to juggle both full-time and part-time jobs, commitments to children, schools, churches, and the community at large. Many find themselves on overload.
How are you coping in this economy? Share your tips, ideas, and concerns here. I will check back regularly and add mine as well.

The Purpose of Life
Did you know that you can accomplish in your life the highest goal that any person could ever achieve? Many people in our society feel that their lives are empty, with no real sense of fulfillment or purpose. Do you feel this way?
There once was a king who had this problem. Like most modern people, he thought that the purpose of life was to become wealthy, "be a party animal," or "get a good education." So he achieved all these goals. He became the wisest man alive. He obtained wealth and pleasure beyond imagination.
But was he satisfied? He concluded that all this was "vanity and vexation of spirit." And then he discovered the real purpose of life. And you can discover it too!
Who was this king, and what did he learn? The answer is found in your Bible. The king was Solomon, and he learned that the "whole duty of man" -- man's whole reason for existing -- is to "fear God and keep His commandments" -- Ecclesiastes 12:13.
God made you. And He made you for a purpose: to serve Him all the days of your life, and then to receive eternal life when this life is over.
But can you accomplish this purpose is your life? Yes, you can! No matter what kind of life you have lived, in God's eyes you are a sinner, "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" -- Romans 3:23. But the good news is that you can still receive eternal life. For God "is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" -- 2 Peter 3:9. Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" -- Mark 16:16.
